Today, I drive out of DeLand, Florida for the last time.

For years, Kara and I dreamed of this. Not just leaving a town, but leaving the weight of being known.

Where:

• 50% of the population had an opinion about me

• 10% worked for me

• Another 50% carried some kind of beef over a decision I made or a value I refused to bend on

We stayed for our boys. They needed this as their home base. But now they’re older. Independent. Calling us only for the “how do I...?” moments.

And I realized it was time for us to move too.
