Make Writing Feel Like Brushing Your Teeth (Yes, Really)
If you’ve ever stared at the blinking cursor and thought, “ugh, not today”… this one’s for you.
Six weeks ago, I made a promise to myself:
Write until it feels like brushing my teeth.
No skipped days.
No second-guessing.
Just something I do, because when we skip brushing, we get cavities.
When we skip writing?
We lose momentum.
We miss opportunities.
We fall silent right when our audience needs us most.
The Micro-Focus That Changed Everything
I gave myself one simple focus:
Write like it’s brushing my teeth.
Here’s what actually worked:
I told people (my partner, my VA, and you).
I wrote for 10 minutes about whatever gave me energy.
I brain dumped. First 3 minutes? Rough. Minutes 3–7? Gold.
I stopped obsessing over grammar. D-minus and still showing up.
I found the hook, the story, the takeaway.
I hit send.
It wasn’t magic.
It was momentum.
Why This Matters for Creatives
If you’re a photographer, brand strategist, designer, or content creator, consistency matters.
When you ghost your audience, they forget you.
When you show up consistently, you become the voice they trust.
Writing doesn’t have to take two hours. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be practiced, the same way you brush your teeth.
The Invitation
That’s why I’m hosting a free writing workshop on Thursday, October 9 at 9am ET.
We’re keeping it intimate with only 10 seats, so you can actually write instead of just taking notes.
This is for you if you want writing to feel effortless and habitual. Like brushing your teeth.
